Congratulations Jess and Jess!
Wow! Crazy announcements to be made. Two of my friends, both named Jess, got engaged to their boyfriend’s over the holidays! Wedding dates are set in the future, but the parties are now!
Now that I have been picking up the pieces of my life (from pre-sickness, although I am still sick), I’ve come to find that the two biggest events I was looking forward to this Sydney Festival have sold out! Wahhh!
Both tickets to the About an Hour sessions at The Studio of Saul Williams’ spoken word and the cabaret performances of The Tigerlillies were appearently exhausted very early on. Suckage.
Sydney Festival is usually my favourite Summer festival, and a little artsy indulgence I enjoy. But it doesn’t look like I will go to anything other than I Want to Dance Better at Parties with my parents. I’m hoping it’s a musical, rather than a yawnful dance performance. I will have to be better organised next year.
Does anyone remember Tunny?
The dude you see on the left is Michael Tunn. I always thought he was a figment of my childhood imagination. But it turns out this is most certainly the chap that hosted The Afternoon Show on the ABC during the 1990s. It must be true, because Wikipedia told me so.
The show, from memory hosted things like Monkey Magic, Degrassi and I think Inspector Gadget… I think Vidiot was not far off either. I really wish the ABC would bring back Vidiot. I always wanted to go on that show, cos I knew all the answers, but I was too young to go on… As soon as I turned the legal age, they axed it. Ahhhh Vidiot… It was the epitemy of the “cool” that I aspired to at 8-9 years of age.
Here’s a nice little website to find your childhood favourite shows: http://www.memorabletv.com/australia/tvaa.htm
Other great shows from the 1990s included Ship to Shore, Around the Twist and Finders Keepers! I didn’t think this post would be complete without a nostalgic trip through my childhood. ![]()
